Growth and Gratitude
By Song Lam QSM (Former Board Member of CNSST 2009-2016)
CNSST has grown from a humble beginning in a garage to a spacious office in Panmure Auckland. Twenty years ago the founder of CNSST had a vision, with great support from
Board of Trustee members, staff as well as volunteers, it has achieved amazingly well, with
lots of success and significant milestones. Here are some of the highlights:
Holding the first forum on settlement issues for migrants and planning for a brighter future
Establishing multi-service Centres for old and young to learn
Organizing a "Children's Art and Calligraphy Exhibition" which was praised by the PM and MPs at the time
Signing the first government contract to run the “Chinese Employment English Course”
Gaining approval from CYF to serve the local Chinese community- a significant milestone in CNSST's life
Organising the first English Speech Contest for elderly Chinese and a Mandarin Speech Contest for children
Gaining great support from the Consul General of PRC by donating Chinese resources to multi-service Centres
Organising donations for the victims of the Sichuan and Christchurch earthquakes
Starting regular and popular radio programmes and TV spots via different channels of Chinese media
Receiving numerous awards from the Mayor and Auckland City Council
Being the first Chinese charity organization to build rental units for local senior Chinese citizens, -another significant milestone in CNSST's life.
CNSST has grown strongly over the past 20 years.
Gratitude must go to its diligent staff and volunteers.
All the best to CNSST for the future.
