(1)marry
1. 用作及物动词(vt)，表示“嫁与，娶，和…结婚”的意思。如：
I’m glad Hubert married a girl of spirit.
我很高兴休伯特娶了一位高尚的女孩。
My sister married the man who she was engaged to.
我姐姐嫁了和她早已订婚的那个人。
He married my younger sister.
他同我的妹妹结了婚。(他娶了我的妹妹。)
2. 用作不及物动词(vi)，必需带状语。如：
She married late in life.她结婚很晚。
He married for money, not for love.他为钱而结婚，不是为爱情。
3. 表示女子结婚或出嫁时，marry后面常接介词to，into或off。如：
The parents married their daughter to a lawyer.
两位父母把他们的女儿嫁给一位律师。
She wished that she could marry into a rich family.
她希望她能嫁到一个富裕的家庭中去。
They married off all their daughters.
他们把女儿都嫁出去了。
4. 表示和谁结婚，可以说marry sb.或be(get)married to sb.如：
He(She)married her(him).
or，He(She) was (got) married to her (him).
注意：在表示“和谁结婚”时，介词应该用“to”，不可以用“with”。如：He was married to a friend of mine.
(2)to be (to get) married
1. 询问某人婚否。如：
Are you married？你结婚了吗？
如末婚，可答I’m single.我还没有结婚。
Have you been married？你已经结婚了吗？（用be的现在完成时态）
通常不说Do you marry？ 习惯上也不说Have you married？
2. 询问什么时候结婚，应说：
When were you married？ or，When did you get married？
3. 询问某人结婚多久了，应说
How long have you been married？（用be的现在完成时态）
不可说：Have you married？因为marry所表示的动作是不能延续的，正如不能说：How long have you come here？或 How long have you joined the club？一样。
表示结婚多久要用to be(to get)用作连系动词，married是marry的过去分词（pp）用作表语，表示动作的延续状态，不是表示动作的被动语态结构。
比较下列的几种说法：
She married Robert two years ago.
她两年以前和罗伯特结婚的。（表示在一个时间点上的瞬间性动作）
She has been married to Robert for two years.
她和罗伯特结婚两年了。（表示时间段的延续性状态）
= It is two years since She married Robert.
= Two years have passed since she married Robert.

1.married是marry的过去分词(pp)在句中的作用等于形容词(a)，可以用作定语（attrib），表示“已婚的”，“婚居的”的意思。如：
a married man 一位已婚男士
married life 婚居生活
2.说“她是已婚妇女”，有下列几种表述法，如：
She is a married woman.
She has been already married.
3.说“她已到了结婚年龄”或“她该结婚了”，可以说：
She is marriageable girl.
She is suitable in age for marriage.
She is old enough to marry.
4.说“她要结婚了”或“她想要结婚了”，可以说：
She is a marrying woman.（marry的现在分词作定语）
She wants (wanted) to marry.(want+不定式to do表示“想要”)
