Time forks perpetually into innumerable futures.
~ Jorge Luis Borges
for Felicity Plunkett

We are time that becomes verse
conversed in a park of words
 that bifurcate over trees, shadows
and entangled in the sound of the wind.
The sound between the leaves becomes conversation.

So life must make of time paths
To return countless times to the question:
What is the future in a verse?

The future should have a sound within the accent of the moon.
About the time that forks in what we do not yet read
Nor do we know how we will look at the dawn.

How to create a conversation between poets
that bifurcate from illusions, or something like that
paths that will cross again
or to write to each other in another language.

G’day, Australia!

There is no deep rest               just resistance.
To this loyal brand
Of silence. - Natalie Harkin

This morning, I am reading: Dirty Words by Natalie Harkin.
I sip a weak long black coffee while the verses of genocide
enter my heart and taste like the wake-up weapon of a long
silent history on this land.
I am a citizen of this uncertain time
There is no deep rest               just resistance.
My verses were in my prison cell bones
In my dreams that never came for many nights.
When they did, I couldn’t remember with/out bars.
On my everyday walks through unnamed streets or suburbs
Where I lived in silence like a shadow from many cruelties.

I learned words by browsing an old bilingual dictionary.
Hojeando palabras searching for the sound I need to pronounce
Stop and read
Sit and have a look at the meaning of it.
Eyes/mind travel to communicate through an old native tree
and hang upon its branches.

I am an old, tired bird dancing with wings that have healed.
I inhabit this city that I call home
Upon stolen land I breathe the resistance of home.
I dig around for decolonized words that I found in a secondhand bookshop

That had already been removed.
by the new consumerism of digital readers on the marketplace.
Natalie had referenced John Howard
Questioning him about his lucky country.
Buenas noches. Duerme tranquilo
In my verses still Pinochet is a ghost or vampire sucking the blood
of generations to come.
Let me finish the last sips of the poem
Let me finish the last sip of the weak long black (Yes)
I left the poem written today at 9.35am      resistance is an emptied cup
Have a good day, mate!!

Dirty Words

Another Day at the Garden...

Harvesting long green beans from a raise bed at garden.
My shadow claiming through the basket
and the tin bed.
Until I was picking up and filling in it.
I touched a flower with my fingers It was your name pronounced within a bunch.
Your smell was on my skin; I ate a couple of them
like a kiss in my hungry memory.
You known, beans are pencils with green ink on this poem.

What to do when you lose faith?
Dedicated to my dear friend Sr. Janet Mead

Go home, make yourself a cup of tea.
Break the left foot of the man on the cross
So, you can reinvent the sacred trinity.
Instead of the old spirit, leave in its place
a certain Oscar Romero.
Let the son go from heaven to the earth.
And live with an Indigenous community.
Let the father, whether biological or otherwise,
find work again to give a better life to his flock.
Let the prayer be a seed, rather than words,
May it be sown as potatoes, onions, and corn.
May the Lord's Prayer no longer be so much ours
But a million copies of Sister Janet Mead’s song.
And be played again as a modern rock hit
Not in churches, but in schools and in shopping centers
Let it be declared a subject of music and literature
From elementary school onwards.
Religion should no longer be seen as Karl Marx's opium
but rather as an honest conversation
between Fidel Castro and Frei Betto,
So that our dead, those who gave their all for a better world
Become living stars, verses by Ernesto Cardenal
Former minister of the Sandinista Revolution.
May the song: Our father, sung by Sr. Janet Mead
Finally, be sown in the earth
Like a melody of social solidarity and revolution
of that creed so much tampered with for ever and ever. Amen.

Lenin & Dictatorship in Chile-1988
 To Lenin Garrido

A childhood torn, words silently
raised above that nest of hungry crows: the dictatorship in Chile.
The light in his eyes grew to shine without crossing the Andes.
His years stagnated in a pool without any echo of the absence
reflected in his childhood journals.

I tear at that piece of history
he carries inside without knowing how to love it.
That bite of pain, tasting on the skin like the depths
of a melody that doesn’t yet end,
like strumming the chords of a song that doesn’t feel lost.

Your words come to me like waterless rivers,
steeped, instead, in hollows of stars pain.
What identity is it that takes root
in a heart beating with love
to be thus able to love what we have,
distancing us from what we have been,
in this reality that binds us.
