iOS 18 Beta 2 brings RCS toggle but many users left disappointed
AI image of iPhone setting menu / iOS 18 beta 2 brings RCS toggle to iPhone but many left disappointed.

At the WWDC 2024 event earlier this month, Apple introduced the iOS 18 update and set the tone for several new iPhone features.

New light-touch additions will include the ability to place app icons anywhere on the home screen, to select light or dark mode for app icons, full customization for the control panel (which will now host a power button), and more.

This week, Apple released the iOS 18 beta 2 to users signed up for its developer program, which appeared to introduce an RCS toggle in the Settings menu but all is not as it seems, not yet anyway.

RCS should enable iPhone users to send audio or large media files across the divide to Android users, which will still show the green bubble but the Messages app will show the label “Text Message – RCS” in the conversation display.

However, the RCS feature has only been made available to a select band of beta testers, confusing others on why it isn’t available in Settings.  Further frustration was sounded when some who have the new RCS toggle were not able to use it.

No guarantee of universal provision across all carriers

9to5Mac has reported that iOS 18 beta 2’s code indicates Apple is working with carriers on a separate basis to update their bundles that ship with IOS, meaning until your network ensures RCS support is in place, you will probably not be able to use the feature.

AT&T and T-Mobile appear to be on board already in the US but some beta testers using these carriers have not been able to avail of RCS, so it is a work in progress at this stage.

Overall, iOS 18 is only in beta and will not be available across the board until late this year, and hopefully, by then all major networks will have the appropriate RCS support enabled but there is no guarantee.

The alternative is an instant messaging app with several popular options available or the more modest SMS for basic needs.

Dead by Daylight’s next survivor is no cowering victim, she’s Lara Croft
Lara Croft rigs up what looks like some kind of booby trap using a collection of human skulls. The room is dimly lit by candle and Croft is flecked with grime, in her signature "Survivor Croft" look.

One of the worst-kept secrets in live-service games this year can finally be confirmed: Lara Croft will join the lineup of survivors in the asymmetrical, multiplayer survival horror game Dead By Daylight.

In a post on X, Behaviour Interactive confirmed the Tomb Raider hero is already available in Dead By Daylight’s public test build, and will join the full game with an official Tomb Raider chapter beginning July 16.

This follows a solid two weeks of leaks, datamines, and other rumors that outed her as the game’s newest Survivor crossover, giving everyone time to nosh on the idea of Croft as a mincing terror victim who runs from a B-movie slasher instead of just whipping out a large-caliber sidearm and blowing him away.

The cocked-up reveal got going a couple of weeks ago with a bulletin from a noted X leaker that the hall-of-fame character was coming to the game. The leaker had previously been right about Dead by Daylight crossovers involving Alien, Alan Wake, and Dungeons & Dragons, but Behaviour Interactive kept mum.

Over the weekend, a Redditor posted a picture of an official-looking Dead by Daylight poster featuring the Tomb Raider star. Then, as Kotaku notes, Eurogamer accidentally hit send on a preview on Monday that read like a pretty solid confirmation of the collab. Eurogamer later pulled the article but, lo and behold, it returned Tuesday morning once Behaviour Interactive made things official at 11 a.m. EDT.

“With her experiences and skillset, Lara Croft perfectly embodies the characteristics needed to survive in The Fog and is right at home in the world of Dead by Daylight alongside other iconic characters,” Behaviour Interactive said in a news release. “Though she may be well-prepared for the Trials ahead, in the Entity’s twisted world, the future is never promised.”

Lara Croft demonstrating her fast vault capability in Dead by Daylight by leaping through a windowsill.

How does Lara Croft play in Dead by Daylight?

With Croft comes three perks specific to her character: Finesse, which grants quicker “fast vaults”; Hardened, which in lieu of a terrified shriek reveals the Killer’s aura for anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds; and “Specialist,” which grants extra bonuses when rummaging chests for useful items to either kill the Killer or get out of Dodge.

Dead by Daylight’s most recent crossover was the D&D collab, which introduced Vecna as a killer, plus two more playable survivors. Other video game franchises have lent their heroes to the game, in addition to Alan Wake. Silent Hill 3 is represented with Cheryl Mason, and Resident Evil by Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy.

Nvidia loses $500 billion in value and its 'most valuable company' crown
Nvidia stock

Nvidia has been riding high thanks to AI, the current center of attention in the tech industry. The chipmaker's silicon is among the only such hardware that can provide the necessary processing power to enable resource-intensive commercial AI models.

Because of this, Nvidia has been sort of a bellwether for the AI industry — rising sky high as an indication of AI's extreme rate of growth.

Over the past week, however, Nvidia has taken a huge tumble on the stock market, and has lost around $500 billion in value.

SEE ALSO: AI giants Microsoft, OpenAI, and Nvidia investigated for possible antitrust violations

This is reverberating around Wall Street because Nvidia has been making shareholders rich of late. On June 18, for example, Nvidia surpassed both Microsoft and Apple to suddenly become the world's most valuable company with a market capitalization of $3.34 trillion.

Now, just one week later, Nvidia is worth around $2.9 trillion, surrendering its most valuable company crown to Microsoft, valued at $3.3 trillion. The company now ranks third behind Apple, which is also worth over $3 trillion.

Nvidia is still doing just fine of course. And it's likely to still be raking in plenty of revenue thanks to AI-related patronage from the likes of Elon Musk, who is reportedly building an Nvidia-based "supercomputer" via his AI company xAI. However, this recent downturn on the stock market might show that investors are sending a message that they're not so bullish on the AI industry's monumental claims of how they will change the world with their technology.

As multiple outlets have reported, AI companies have made big promises, but so far have had very little to show for it when it comes to actual meaningful change in the industry's AI claimed to soon disrupt. On top of that, studies have found AI to be a massive energy and resource drain, which will certainly give at least some AI backers second thoughts about where the industry is headed.

OpenAI reportedly plans to block access in China. Chinese AI companies may fill the void.
The OpenAI logo is being displayed on a laptop screen with a glowing green keyboard

OpenAI is reportedly planning to block API access in China, and Chinese companies are swooping in to fill the impending void.

According to Chinese state-owned newspaper Securities Times (via Reuters), users in China received an email saying they're in a "'region that OpenAI does not currently support' and that additional measures to block API traffic from some regions would be taken starting July 9."

SEE ALSO: OpenAI acquires search and analytics startup Rockset. What does that mean?

ChatGPT is not available in mainland China, but users have gotten around that by using the OpenAI API. According to Securities Times, many Chinese startups have built applications using the API.

It's unclear what prompted OpenAI to reportedly start restricting API access. But the company recently investigated and cut off five "covert influence operations." One of these was a Chinese network called "Spamouflage" which reportedly used OpenAI models to research and generate social media posts targeting critics of the Chinese government. The Biden Administration has determined that generative AI models are a cybersecurity risk and has mandated security testing and evaluations of foundation models in the AI executive order.

As a result of the apparent move from OpenAI, Chinese companies with their own AI models have announced incentives to lure OpenAI users to their platforms. Per Reuters, Baidu is offering free migration to its Ernie chatbot with additional tokens for its flagship model Ernie 3.5. Similarly, Alibaba Cloud has offered free tokens and migration to its Qwen-plus model and Zhipu AI has launched a "Special Migration Program" for OpenAI API users, claiming its GLM model meets the same benchmarks as OpenAI's models.

The Dr Disrespect allegations and fallout, explained
dr disrespect face up close

Dr Disrespect, a popular streamer, has been booted from his gaming studio after disturbing allegations surfaced about an apparent text conversation he had with a minor.

The video game streamer, whose real name is Herschel "Guy" Beahm, was unceremoniously kicked off Twitch four years ago. The public was unsure why. Now, reports suggest it was due to an inappropriate texting relationship with a minor.

An anonymous former employee on Twitch's trust and safety team told The Verge that Beahm messaged a minor using Twitch's now-defunct messaging service, Whispers, and attempted to set up a meeting at TwitchCon. Cody Conners, another former Twitch employee, posted on X alleging Beahm — though Conners did not say his name outright — was banned "because got caught sexting a minor."

Tweet may have been deleted

Beahm, meanwhile, has denied any wrongdoing.

"Listen, I'm obviously tied to legal obligations from the settlement with Twitch but I just need to say what I can say since this is the fucking internet," he wrote on X over the weekend. "I didn't do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid."

Tweet may have been deleted

In the wake of the allegations, Beahm is now out from Midnight Society, a gaming studio he co-founded.

On Monday, the studio posted a statement on X:

"On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect.

We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act.

For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.

While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players."

Gizmodo reported that, during a stream on Monday evening, Beahm said he was taking a break from streaming because he was "burnt out."

Bitcoin ETF outflows reach $1.3B as price falls
A digital balance scale with Bitcoin logo on one side and stacks of dollar bills on the other, tipping towards the dollar side

Over the past two weeks, United States spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have experienced outflows totaling $1.3 billion as Bitcoin’s price continues to fall.

Farside Investors reports that the total outflow for Bitcoin ETFs reached $1.298 billion during this period, with Grayscale leading the exodus at $517.3 million. Interestingly, BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF stands out as the sole fund reporting positive results, attracting $43.1 million in inflows over the same timeframe.

During this period, Bitcoin’s price has dropped 11.6%, declining from $69,476 on June 10 to $61,359 at the time of writing, according to TradingView data. This marks the most significant outflow since April when spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows exceeding $1.2 billion between April 24 and early May.

Mt. Gox still haunts crypto

Jonathan de Wet — chief investment officer at ZeroCap — told Cointelegraph that he expects Bitcoin to potentially fall to around $57,000 in the coming weeks, citing Mt. Gox creditor repayments as a contributing factor. However, he notes that Bitcoin and Ethereum are “holding up surprisingly well” compared to the broader crypto market. In late May, the defunct company moved $840 million worth of Bitcoin.

Market observers have expressed concerns about potential downward pressure due to Bitcoin sales from the German government and anticipated Mt. Gox creditor repayments of nearly $9 billion expected in July.

Despite short-term challenges, de Wet maintains a bullish long-term outlook, citing the expected Ethereum ETF launch and potential easing of monetary policy towards the end of 2024 and into 2025. Also Brad Howell of Keyrock UK told DL News in late April:

It is fair to assume that anyone who had assets in Mt. Gox is an early adopter and more likely to lean towards the Bitcoin maxi end of the spectrum. […] Don’t expect large volumes of Bitcoin to sell off on day one.

Some analysts, including eToro’s Farhan Badami, suggest that the impact of Mt. Gox repayments may not be as severe as feared, noting that Bitcoin often prices in significant market events. Badami expects Bitcoin’s price to stabilize in the coming weeks, potentially ranging between $60,000 and $70,000, before potentially reaching new all-time highs in the months ahead.

How to get Red Bear’s Claws in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
red bears claw elden ring

If you’re looking to get up close and personal in the Elden Ring DLC, there are a few weapons that grant you this wish.

Along with martial arts, there are claw weapons you can pick up to make things a little more rabid.

The Beast Claw is an easy early get but if you’re into how these work, there’s an additional Red Bear’s Claw weapon that takes things to another level.

Here, we’ll take you through how to get the Red Bear’s Claw in Shadow of the Erdtree so you can become one with the wild animals.

Where to find Red Bear’s Claw in Shadow of the Erdtree

To get Red Bear’s Claw in Shadow of the Erdtree, you will need to defeat its owner – Red Bear.

However, compared to the Beast Claw we touched on earlier, you will have to progress through some of the game in order to challenge the boss.

Starting at Moorth Ruins, head straight north and through the gap in the mountain. Continue through until you make it out of the other side.

Now, head west, through Rauh Base, past the giant enemies that have a large bow and halberd. We wouldn’t recommend fighting them as it’ll just waste time.

Carry on moving forward until you see a blocked spiritspring that you must open up to progress.

red bears claw location elden ring

Move past this spirit spring in a southerly direction and hug the left-hand wall until you make it onto a ledged area.

Break the rocks that are at the end of this ledge and you should get a message saying that the spiritspring has been unlocked.

Jump on this spiritspring, and the next, and continue south toward the Northern Nameless Mausoleum.

Here is where Red Bear is situated, so simply defeat him and the Red Bear’s Claw will be yours, alongside his armor set.

After Walmart could barely scrounge up a noteworthy robot vacuum deal for Walmart+ Week, we're banking on Amazon even harder to go off on robot vacuum deals for Prime Day.

We're in good hands, though. Overall, Amazon is already generally the best place to score a robot vacuum on sale at any point during the year, whether that's a shopping holiday or a random Tuesday in September when your current corded vacuum sends you over the edge. Despite ditching its plans to buy iRobot, Amazon is still the best retailer to find a Roomba on sale, slashing Roomba prices by between 25% to 50% throughout the year. We're manifesting those same Roombas to reach new record-low pricing as Prime Day nears — ideally, the Roomba Combo j9+ would drop below $800 or the Combo j5+ below $400.

SEE ALSO: Amazon TV deals ahead of Prime Day are actually pretty good

We're similarly hoping that Prime Day sets the stage for new all-time low prices on other premium robot vacs released at CES 2024 in January. Particularly, the Eufy X10 Pro Omni dropping below $650 or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra getting its very first discount would be awesome — we've tested and loved both.

But if you've already taken a beach trip that has left your floors perpetually sandy, you don't have to wait until Prime Day (July 16 and 17) to make the move on a robot vacuum. We'll be refreshing our list of robovacs on sale at Amazon (with subcategories for standard robot vacuums from robot vacuums that mop) throughout the upcoming weeks as Prime Day nears, and will keep you posted when Amazon switches over to official early Prime Day deals. For now, deals with a strikeout were either sold out or no longer available at their best sale price when we last checked. Anything marked with a 🔥 has dropped to an all-time low price.

Eufy X9 Pro
$449.99 at Amazon
$899.99 Save $450.00

Why we like it

Eufy's X9 Pro debuted in fall 2023 and sits right in the sweet spot between the X8 Pro (which doesn't mop) and the X10 Pro Omni (which is sitting at its MSRP of $799.99). And it's already seen several groundbreaking price cuts just in June: its current discount code X9PROEUFY bumps the discount to a full 50% off, beating the discount seen in mid-June that was exclusive to Prime members.

The X9 Pro is more reminiscent of its successor than its predecessor: It has a flat edge to get into corners, it mops, washes, and dries its own mopping pads, and uses AI to detect and avoid small obstacles like phone cables. As a mopper, the X9 Pro provides more elbow grease than many competitors thanks to double-pressurized, rotating mopping heads. These automatically lift above the ground if carpet is detected.

Here are the 25 toughest home fields in College Football 25
Texas quarterback quinn evers gets ready to heave a pass as the defensive end rushes from the blindside in COllege football 25

EA Sports’ old NCAA Football series had an unusual mechanism that was a nod to the large home–field advantages that big time programs had, even over rivals or higher ranked teams. That returns with College Football 25 on July 19, as does the ranking of the toughest buildings to play on the road. Tuesday, EA Sports released its initial ranking of the 25 baddest facilities in the nation.

This will change during a player’s long–term mode playthroughs, like Dynasty or Road to Glory. Just because Oregon State isn’t on this list, if you pick the Beavers for your coach or stud quarterback and start racking up the wins, the crowds will turn out, and Reser Stadium will become a chamber of horrors for opposing teams, as much as rival Oregon’s Autzen Stadium is in real life. One of my pals turned Air Force’s Falcon Stadium, of all places, into the nation’s most fearsome venue. It’s part of the fun of College Football 25.

How does this homefield advantage manifest in–game? At a preview event at EA Sports’ Orlando studio in May, designer Scott O’Gallagher said the feature was an homage to NCAA Football 06, when it was first introduced and visiting players noticed their pre–snap play art was a bunch of squiggly lines, and hot–routing receivers was all but impossible.

But in College Football 25, a tough home field advantage will manifest in other ways. “You may see more drops [of passes], tackling becomes harder, or you’re breaking more tackles, things of that nature,” O’Gallagher said. “But what a freshman is, in [Clemson’s] Death Valley, and how he reacts is not the same as, maybe, a seasoned senior.”

Clemson's center calls out defensive coverage assignments before snapping the ball in EA Sports College Football 25

Moreover, just because a team isn’t on this top 25 of tough places doesn’t mean they have no homefield advantage. Reser Stadium, for example, can be tough sledding even if the Beavers aren’t a top 10 team, O’Gallagher said.

“But it’s not the same as playing the Horseshoe (Ohio State’s Ohio Stadium) or Death Valley, right?” he said. “So we’ve taken our toughest places to play, this meter scales, the impacts get greater. You might not be able to hot route as much as you’d like. Audibles become tough. We’re really trying to replicate how hard it is to communicate in these venues.” Players might even see trouble with just snapping the ball, especially on long snaps, the more hostile the territory.

What are the 25 Toughest Places to Play in College Football 25?

Here are the top 25 toughest places to play out of the box in College Football 25, with some notes where appropriate:

  1. Kyle Field – Texas A&M. This is the home of the Aggies’ fabled 12th Man, and the wall of sound coming from A&M’s Corps of Cadets and students standing for the entire game.
  2. Bryant–Denny Stadium – Alabama
  3. Tiger Stadium – LSU. The university’s geosciences department is about 1,000 feet from Tiger Stadium, and in 1988 seismologists noted a significant tremor after quarterback Tommy Hodson tossed a fourth-down touchdown pass to Eddie Fuller to upset Auburn 7-6.
  4. Ohio Stadium – Ohio State
  5. Sanford Stadium – Georgia
  6. Beaver Stadium – Penn State
  7. Camp Randall Stadium – Wisconsin
  8. Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium – Oklahoma
  9. Doak S. Campbell Stadium – Florida State
  10. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium – Florida
  11. Autzen Stadium – Oregon. Oregon constructed Autzen around an artificial crater to prevent the need to build multilevel ramps to its upper seats. This resulted in the tight bowl formation where the screaming abuse of 60,000 Duck alumni and fans can sound like 120,000 on critical third downs.
  12. Memorial Stadium – Clemson
  13. Neyland Stadium – Tennessee
  14. Jordan–Hare Stadium – Auburn
  15. Williams–Brice Stadium – South Carolina. I saw U2 and Public Enemy play a show here in 1992. Greatest concert I’ve ever seen. Still have the ticket.
  16. Michigan Stadium – Michigan
  17. Lane Stadium – Virginia Tech
  18. Rice–Eccles Stadium – Utah
  19. Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium – Texas. This is actually Joe Jamail Field at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium (and there is no period after the middle initial, Royal’s middle name is literally one letter, like Harry S. Truman). Jamail is one of America’s great junkyard dog lawyers, who made a fortune suing Texaco in the 1980s.
  20. Kinnick Stadium – Iowa. Home of one of the great traditions in college football. The University of Iowa’s Children’s Hospital overlooks the east stands at Kinnick, and after the first period ends, everyone turns and waves to the kids watching the game from their windows.
  21. Notre Dame Stadium – Notre Dame
  22. Spartan Stadium – Michigan State
  23. Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium – Arkansas
  24. Albertsons Stadium – Boise State. The Smurf Turf. ‘Nuff said.
  25. Davis Wade Stadium – Mississippi State

Free Amazon Prime games on light blue abstract background

Amazon is giving away free video games as part of this year's Prime Day event. Be sure to claim yours.

Amazon Prime Day is coming up, and you'll be able to shop hundreds of deals when the event launches on July 16. But you don't have to spend a dime to scoop up some great games by way of Prime Gaming. While you can already get a rotating selection of free games from Amazon each month, there will be a few more to sweeten the deal just in time for Prime Day.

Prime Gaming members will be able to claim free games and other goodies every day until July 16, with several options available right now. To claim them, you need to be logged into your Prime account. Then visit the Prime Gaming page and click the "Activate Prime Gaming" option in the top right corner of the page. You'll only see your Amazon account name there if you're logged in and have already activated your account.

When you claim a free Prime Gaming title, you can keep it forever – no strings attached. That's why it's important to grab each game while you can.. Right now, there's a decent selection of titles to choose from, including:

  • Star Wars Battlefront II (Classic)

  • Deceive Inc.

  • Call of Juarez

  • The Invisible Hand

  • Tearstone: Thieves of the Heart - CE

There's a decent mix of free titles here to choose from, but standout games include Star Wars Battlefront II (Classic), a fun multiplayer title set in the Star Wars universe where you can duke it out with large-scale battles and exciting matchups that feel like your own custom story in a galaxy far, far away. Call of Juarez is an oldie but a goodie, especially if you're a first-person shooter fan who happens to be into Western settings. These games are redeemable on multiple platforms, including the Epic Games Store and GOG.

Amazon has revealed additional titles that are on their way as part of Prime Day as well, including:

  • Soulstice (Available on June 27)

  • Forager (Available on June 27)

  • Heaven Dust (Available on June 27)

  • Card Shark (Available on June 27)

There are also occasional non-game bonuses you can claim, like a free Twitch channel subscription (a $4.99 value) that you can put toward your favorite streamer. You'll need to make sure your Twitch and Amazon Prime accounts are connected. This subscription counts as a Prime subscription and is only valid for 30 days. You'll need to continue your subscription with real cash if you want to keep supporting your streamer.

If you're looking to grow your game collection without having to spend any money, it's in your best interest to keep checking back each week for another drop, as it seems there will be plenty to go around this Prime Day. We'll keep you updated on what's available so you can take advantage of every single deal available to you during this year's massive shopping event.

Here are our top picks for the best Amazon deals of the day. Be sure to check out our top picks from June 24 as well — many of those are still live.

Our top pick

Blink Video Doorbell System + Amazon Echo Pop
$34.99 at Amazon
$109.98 Save $74.99
Prime-exclusive deal

Topping our list is this Blink Video Doorbell System and Echo Pop bundle. Regularly a $109.98 value, it's down to an impossibly low $34.99 for Prime members. That's 68% in savings and cheaper than buying an Echo Pop on its own. The doorbell system includes the Blink Video Doorbell and the Sync Module 2, which conveniently lets you control your Blink devices from the Blink Home Monitor app. Pair it with the Echo Pop — basically a pared down Echo Dot — to receive alerts and answer your door with two-way audio. The Pop is compact enough to squeeze into your tight spaces without sticking out, but still features Alexa and full sound.

Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro
$109.99 at Amazon
$189.99 Save $80.00
Prime-exclusive deal

Another Prime-exclusive deal that turned our heads is the Fire HD 10 Kids Pro, which is down to an all-time low $109.99 for Prime members. That's a savings of 42% and beats its previous all-time low by $15. Designed for 6- to 12-year-olds, the kids tablet released in 2023 is marketed as Amazon's "best kids tablet yet." It features a 10.1-inch 1080p full HD display, a lighter design, is 25% faster than the previous generation, 3GB of RAM, and up to 13 hours of battery life. And like other Amazon tablets for kids, its durable case (with a built-in kickstand) can stand up to all kinds of adventures. There's no need to hold off on purchasing until Prime Day, as this price is already extremely impressive.

Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) Kids with Echo Glow
$64.99 at Amazon
$129.98 Save $64.99
Prime-exclusive deal

Introduce your kiddos to Alexa with this bundle of the Echo Show 5 Kids and Echo Glow. The third-generation Echo Show 5 Kids boasts an upgraded speaker system with double the bass of the previous generation and clearer sound for music, audiobooks, video content, and more. It also features the AZ2 Neural Edge processor, a reengineered microphone array, a new space-themed galaxy design, and kid-friendly Alexa responses, jokes, homework help, and more. Paired with the Echo Glow, kids can throw their own dance parties with lighting, music, and games. Regularly $129.98 for both, you can save 50% and snag the Echo Show 5 Kids and Echo Glow with one year of Amazon Kids+ for only $64.99 as a Prime member.

Luna Controller + free month of Luna+
$39.99 at Amazon
$69.99 Save $30.00
Prime-exclusive deal

Our buds at PCMag (which is owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis) reviewed Amazon's Luna controller and found it to be "an excellent gamepad that provides the optimal Luna game-streaming experience." The real advantage, they noted, is its separate WiFi connection that reduces input lag as you play. It's technically optional for the Luna gaming experience, but they consider it a "must-have." Regularly $69.99, you can save $30 as a Prime member and snag it for only $39.99. It even includes a free month of Luna+ to get you up and running.

Bass lovers looking for a portable speaker will fall for the Sony ULT Field 1. Mashable's own Miller Kern went hands-on with the speaker and found its sound quality, customizable EQs, and ULT setting to be particularly impressive selling points. While its battery life could be better, we're willing to give it a pass for its affordable price tag. Usually $129.99, Amazon has it on sale for only $98 as of June 25. That's 25% off and matches its record-low price.

None of these deals catching your eye? Check out Amazon's daily deals for even more savings.

Marc Cuban’s crypto wallet awakens with NFT sales
Marc Cuban's digital wallet, stylized as a futuristic briefcase, spilling out colorful NFT artworks against a backdrop of rising cryptocurrency graphs

After nearly two years of inactivity, a crypto wallet associated with billionaire Marc Cuban has resumed selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Mark Cuban is a major personality in the NFT space, which is further exacerbates the gravity of him selling.

On June 23, the wallet identified by the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain “markcuban.eth” began offloading various NFTs, including EulerBeats Genesis, DeepBlack, Pudgy Penguins, and Wrapped MoonCats. The wallet’s previous transaction occurred on January 13, 2022, when a Roc Aero Pitch Deck NFT was sold for $33.73.

Over the past two days, Cuban’s wallet has sold 14 NFTs, totaling approximately $38,533. The most valuable sale was Pudgy Penguin #6239, listed at 9.06 Wrapped Ether (WETH), equivalent to $30,578. Other NFTs sold ranged from $22 to $1,800 in value.

High-value sales potential

Two additional high-value NFTs remain listed in the wallet. A Hashtag NFT #MFFL is priced at 15 Ether (ETH), worth over $50,000, while a BibleNFT piece titled Deuteronomy 25:4 is listed for 5 ETH (about $16,000). If sold, these transactions would push the wallet’s total sales beyond $100,000.

Interestingly, this NFT sell-off coincides with a recent security breach reported by Cuban. On June 23, the 65-year-old investor claimed his Gmail account was compromised following a fraudulent call. Cuban warned his followers about potential unauthorized emails from his account. Two days later, he announced the successful recovery of his account, thanking Google’s team publicly.

A thank you to @google for your help in getting my account back. Truly appreciate all you did.

— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) June 24, 2024

While the NFT sales occurred on the same day as the reported hack, it remains unclear whether the two events are connected. This isn’t the first time Cuban’s crypto assets have faced security issues.

Who is Mark Cuban?

Mark Cuban is a prominent American entrepreneur, investor, and media proprietor. Born in 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cuban rose to prominence in the business world during the dot-com boom of the late 1990s. He co-founded Broadcast.com, an internet radio company, which was later acquired by Yahoo! for $5.7 billion in 1999.

Following his success with Broadcast.com, Cuban has diversified his investments and business interests. He is the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, which he purchased in 2000, and has since transformed the team into a successful franchise. Cuban is also known for his role as one of the “shark” investors on the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” where he evaluates and invests in startup companies.

Amazon reportedly developing new AI chatbot to rival ChatGPT
AI image of chatbot development / Amazon is said to be working on Metis, a new chatbot to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Amazon is reportedly developing a ‘killer’ AI chatbot that will compete directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

With some perceptions that the company is falling behind in the race to create generative AI, Business Insider has detailed the response to follow from the tech giant.

The chatbot has been codenamed Metis, powered by an Amazon LLM known as Olympus which is being trained on a massive two trillion parameters of data which is around twice the capability of GPT-4.  This increased scope should make Metis more capable of human-like responses, reducing the margin for error in context and reasoning.

Metis will enable Microsoft to take its place among the other big tech players such as Google and Microsoft which offer their own bespoke AI assistants and in a crowded, competitive AI space, many start-ups like Amazon-backed Anthropic, and Perplexity are also providing an offering.

Jeff Bezos questions Amazon’s position

The new offering from Amazon is expected to “deliver text and image-based answers in a conversational manner” and to provide links to source responses, suggest follow-up points of interest, and generate images. With the added capacity from Olympus, Amazon is said to want the AI chatbot to be able to return information from beyond the original data source to deliver updated information, such as stock prices.

Metis has also been tipped to work as an “AI agent”, moving toward the evolution of the technology as agents will be able to perform additional tasks seamlessly and autonomously, using data, decision-making and multitasking, based on activity patterns and set algorithms.

Some of the criticism that Amazon was falling behind in the pecking order came from an unlikely source in Jeff Bezos, with the company’s founder and former CEO stating his concern in emails to senior staff asking why more AI firms were not using its cloud services.

There have been reports of a proposed launch for Metis in late September this year.

How to get Beast Claw in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
beast claw shadow of the erdtree

There are some interesting new weapons that have been added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring such as the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana, and Milady.

Moreover, with the introduction of martial arts, hand-based weapons have certainly been on the rise, with many trying out builds specific to these additions.

One such weapon is the Beast Claw, basically turning you into a straight-up wolf/bear, and here, we’ll reveal how you can get it, so you can swipe away on the foes that await.

Where to find Beast Claw in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

You acquire the Beast Claw by defeating a certain enemy in the DLC – Logur, the Beast Claw.

However, you may not have come across him since he is a roaming ‘boss’ that is pretty well camouflaged in the environment.

To find Logur, the Beast Claw, first start off at the very beginning of the expansion where the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace is situated.

Look to the east and make your way toward the small forest area. Here, do some searching, and you should be able to find Logur, the Beast Claw within.

beast claw shadow of the erdtree location

As previously stated, he is somewhat hard to find since he doesn’t really have any armor on and almost blends into the background with the colors of his attire.

He will be using the Beast Claw that you’re after so be wary of some speedy jumping slashes that’ll be coming your way.

Once you do defeat him, the Beast Claw will be yours!

One thing to note here is that when you equip the Beast Claw, it will only be on one of your hands, so you will need to two-hand it to get the double claws effect.

Top Gainer Today: Fetch.ai (FET) Price Keeps Rallying – What Is the Reason for Its Continued Surge?
Top Gainer Today: Fetch.ai (FET) Price Keeps Rallying – What Is the Reason for Its Continued Surge?

As Fetch.ai’s price continues to surge, this lesser-known token is being touted as the next big AI crypto. This raises an important question: Will Fetch.AI likely see big gains soon?

Fetch.ai (FET), ranked 7th among artificial intelligence (AI) cryptocurrencies, surged to the top of today’s gainers chart on June 25th.

The 28% increase occurs shortly before FET merges with other AI tokens to form the highly anticipated Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI).

FET price analysis

As of today, Fetch.ai (FET) is trading at $1.65, with a 24-hour trading volume of $200 million and a market capitalization of $1.4 billion, holding a market dominance of 0.05%. The FET price has surged by 18.64% in the past 24 hours.

Fetch.ai achieved its peak price of $3.47 on March 29, 2024, marking its all-time high. Its lowest price was recorded at $0.00827 on March 13, 2020. The lowest price since reaching its all-time high was $1.11096, while the highest price since this low point was $1.73526.

Currently, Fetch.ai has a circulating supply of 800 million FET, out of a maximum supply of 2.6 billion FET. Fetch.ai has shown a remarkable of over 600% growth year-over-year, signaling strong upward momentum. This surge reflects high investor confidence and suggests a solid trend that could push FET to new highs.

Outperforming 94% of top 100 crypto assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, highlights Fetch.ai’s unique value proposition and market position. This strong performance indicates significant recognition within the investment community, which may drive further price increases.

FET price prediction

Trading above the 200-day simple moving average (SMA) is a bullish sign, suggesting a positive long-term trend. This indicator often acts as support in rising markets, indicating FET has a stable base for continued growth. Being near its cycle high shows strong buying interest and positive sentiment.

Breaking through this resistance level could lead to substantial price gains as new highs attract more investors. Fetch.ai’s high liquidity supports smooth transactions, crucial for sustaining upward price movements and attracting institutional investors.

FET Price Graph

Despite having only 7 green days in the last month (23%), Fetch.ai’s ability to maintain strong price performance demonstrates resilience amid crypto market volatility. However, its current 52.98% decline from the all-time high (ATH) of $3.47 suggests significant upside potential if FET can surpass previous highs.

Considering these factors, Fetch.ai could see substantial growth if current trends and positive indicators persist. In the short to medium term, trading above the 200-day SMA and surpassing its cycle high could see FET testing the $2.00 to $2.50 range, based on historical performance and increased investor interest.

Long-term prospects look promising if market interest in AI and blockchain remains strong and Fetch.ai continues to outperform other assets. Reaching and potentially surpassing the ATH of $3.47 seems plausible. With favorable market conditions and continued project success, aiming for the $4.00 to $5.00 range is conceivable.

If you’re interested in exploring other investment opportunities currently on presale, you can find our guide to the best crypto presales here.

Key factors behind FET price rally

FET’s price surge continues due to several positive factors converging. The AI market is booming, driven by the success of Elon Musk’s advancements in explainable AI and Nvidia recently claiming the title of the world’s most valuable company. This optimistic sentiment is benefiting AI-focused cryptocurrencies like FET.

Adding to this momentum is the upcoming launch of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance on July 1st. Crypto Briefing reported that the merger was postponed to July 15th.

This merger will unite FET with Ocean Protocol (OCEAN) and SingularityNET (AGIX), generating considerable excitement in the crypto community.

https://t.co/4QEYIkYwHf

— Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (@ASI_Alliance) June 20, 2024

The prospect of a unified presence in the AI crypto sector likely contributes to FET’s current upward trend. Further reinforcing this positive outlook is a surge in trading activity. Derivatives markets have seen FET’s trading volume soar by more than 200%, signaling renewed interest among traders.

Moreover, short-sellers are experiencing significant liquidations, indicating a potential shift in momentum favoring FET. The rise in FET prices reflects heightened investor confidence and interest in these advanced applications.

Additionally, the market’s optimism towards AI technologies is driven by a growing recognition of their transformative potential across industries, from finance to logistics.

Hugely popular IL-2 Sturmovik devs announce new combat flight sim for next year based on Korean War
A new screenshot from the upcoming IL-2 Korea

When it comes to games or flight sims based around the ‘Forgotten War’ of Korea, none really leap to mind, so news that 1CGS is working on a follow-up to the iconic IL-2 series of flight sims and basing it on the Korean War is exciting on a number of levels.

It really does seem like flight simming is being born again. DCS World has never been as popular, MSFS has reached 15 million players, more and more companies are getting in on the act of creating actual flight controller hardware to play with, and now we are getting a new combat flight sim from some of the best in the business. What a time for simmers to be alive.

Despite nobody really ‘popularising’ the Korean War it has led the world now, even some 75 years on to the situation with North and South Korea so it is of huge historical importance.

The devs have released the first of a planned series of dev blogs and in it explain some of the aircraft we can expect to see including jets from the first and second generation of the technology as well as piston-engined aircraft such as the F-51D Mustang.

The team will recreate the air forces of the USA, North Korea, USSR, and China to accurately represent the war that could quite easily have turned into WWIII.

Where things sound like they are going to get very interesting though is that in the main game mode, you won’t just be a pilot, you can actually take on the role of a commander of an entire unit, managing personnel and planning combat missions.

An entirely new game engine is being developed to run the sim, rather than just tweaking the old one to bring it up to modern standards.

All we have is a 2025 date right now but we are going to be following the progress of Korea closely in the coming months.

Upon completing your creative endeavor on LimeWire, the platform allows you the option to publish your content. This transformative step imbues your artwork with a unique digital signature, securing its authenticity and ownership in the decentralized realm.

Creators on LimeWire hold the power to decide the accessibility of their NFT creations. By opting for a public release, the content becomes discoverable by anyone, fostering a space for engagement and interaction. Furthermore, this choice opens the avenue for enthusiasts to trade the NFTs, adding a layer of community involvement to the artistic journey.

What is Blockchain: Everything You Need to Know (2022)
What is Blockchain

If you want to pay online, you need to register an account and provide credit card information. If you don't have a credit card, you can pay with bank transfer. With the rise of cryptocurrencies, these methods may become old.

Imagine a world in which you can do transactions and many other things without having to give your personal information. A world in which you don’t need to rely on banks or governments anymore. Sounds amazing, right? That’s exactly what blockchain technology allows us to do.

It’s like your computer’s hard drive. blockchain is a technology that lets you store data in digital blocks, which are connected together like links in a chain.

Blockchain technology was originally invented in 1991 by two mathematicians, Stuart Haber and W. Scot Stornetta. They first proposed the system to ensure that timestamps could not be tampered with.

A few years later, in 1998, software developer Nick Szabo proposed using a similar kind of technology to secure a digital payments system he called “Bit Gold.” However, this innovation was not adopted until Satoshi Nakamoto claimed to have invented the first Blockchain and Bitcoin.

So, What is Blockchain?

A blockchain is a distributed database shared between the nodes of a computer network. It saves information in digital format. Many people first heard of blockchain technology when they started to look up information about bitcoin.

Blockchain is used in cryptocurrency systems to ensure secure, decentralized records of transactions.

Blockchain allowed people to guarantee the fidelity and security of a record of data without the need for a third party to ensure accuracy.

To understand how a blockchain works, Consider these basic steps:

  • Blockchain collects information in “blocks”.
  • A block has a storage capacity, and once it's used up, it can be closed and linked to a previously served block.
  • Blocks form chains, which are called “Blockchains.”
  • More information will be added to the block with the most content until its capacity is full. The process repeats itself.
  • Each block in the chain has an exact timestamp and can't be changed.

Let’s get to know more about the blockchain.

How does blockchain work?

Blockchain records digital information and distributes it across the network without changing it. The information is distributed among many users and stored in an immutable, permanent ledger that can't be changed or destroyed. That's why blockchain is also called "Distributed Ledger Technology" or DLT.

Here’s how it works:

  • Someone or a computer will transacts
  • The transaction is transmitted throughout the network.
  • A network of computers can confirm the transaction.
  • When it is confirmed a transaction is added to a block
  • The blocks are linked together to create a history.

And that’s the beauty of it! The process may seem complicated, but it’s done in minutes with modern technology. And because technology is advancing rapidly, I expect things to move even more quickly than ever.

  • A new transaction is added to the system. It is then relayed to a network of computers located around the world. The computers then solve equations to ensure the authenticity of the transaction.
  • Once a transaction is confirmed, it is placed in a block after the confirmation. All of the blocks are chained together to create a permanent history of every transaction.

How are Blockchains used?

Even though blockchain is integral to cryptocurrency, it has other applications. For example, blockchain can be used for storing reliable data about transactions. Many people confuse blockchain with cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum.

Blockchain already being adopted by some big-name companies, such as Walmart, AIG, Siemens, Pfizer, and Unilever. For example, IBM's Food Trust uses blockchain to track food's journey before reaching its final destination.

Although some of you may consider this practice excessive, food suppliers and manufacturers adhere to the policy of tracing their products because bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella have been found in packaged foods. In addition, there have been isolated cases where dangerous allergens such as peanuts have accidentally been introduced into certain products.

Tracing and identifying the sources of an outbreak is a challenging task that can take months or years. Thanks to the Blockchain, however, companies now know exactly where their food has been—so they can trace its location and prevent future outbreaks.

Blockchain technology allows systems to react much faster in the event of a hazard. It also has many other uses in the modern world.

What is Blockchain Decentralization?

Blockchain technology is safe, even if it’s public. People can access the technology using an internet connection.

Have you ever been in a situation where you had all your data stored at one place and that one secure place got compromised? Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to prevent your data from leaking out even when the security of your storage systems is compromised?

Blockchain technology provides a way of avoiding this situation by using multiple computers at different locations to store information about transactions. If one computer experiences problems with a transaction, it will not affect the other nodes.

Instead, other nodes will use the correct information to cross-reference your incorrect node. This is called “Decentralization,” meaning all the information is stored in multiple places.

Blockchain guarantees your data's authenticity—not just its accuracy, but also its irreversibility. It can also be used to store data that are difficult to register, like legal contracts, state identifications, or a company's product inventory.

Pros and Cons of Blockchain

Blockchain has many advantages and disadvantages.

Pros

  • Accuracy is increased because there is no human involvement in the verification process.
  • One of the great things about decentralization is that it makes information harder to tamper with.
  • Safe, private, and easy transactions
  • Provides a banking alternative and safe storage of personal information

Cons

  • Data storage has limits.
  • The regulations are always changing, as they differ from place to place.
  • It has a risk of being used for illicit activities

Frequently Asked Questions About Blockchain

I’ll answer the most frequently asked questions about blockchain in this section.

Is Blockchain a cryptocurrency?

Blockchain is not a cryptocurrency but a technology that makes cryptocurrencies possible. It's a digital ledger that records every transaction seamlessly.

Is it possible for Blockchain to be hacked?

Yes, blockchain can be theoretically hacked, but it is a complicated task to be achieved. A network of users constantly reviews it, which makes hacking the blockchain difficult.

What is the most prominent blockchain company?

Coinbase Global is currently the biggest blockchain company in the world. The company runs a commendable infrastructure, services, and technology for the digital currency economy.

Who owns Blockchain?

Blockchain is a decentralized technology. It’s a chain of distributed ledgers connected with nodes. Each node can be any electronic device. Thus, one owns blockhain.

What is the difference between Bitcoin and Blockchain technology?

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, which is powered by Blockchain technology while Blockchain is a distributed ledger of cryptocurrency

What is the difference between Blockchain and a Database?

Generally a database is a collection of data which can be stored and organized using a database management system. The people who have access to the database can view or edit the information stored there. The client-server network architecture is used to implement databases. whereas a blockchain is a growing list of records, called blocks, stored in a distributed system. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, timestamp and transaction information. Modification of data is not allowed due to the design of the blockchain. The technology allows decentralized control and eliminates risks of data modification by other parties.

Final Saying

Blockchain has a wide spectrum of applications and, over the next 5-10 years, we will likely see it being integrated into all sorts of industries. From finance to healthcare, blockchain could revolutionize the way we store and share data. Although there is some hesitation to adopt blockchain systems right now, that won't be the case in 2022-2023 (and even less so in 2026). Once people become more comfortable with the technology and understand how it can work for them, owners, CEOs and entrepreneurs alike will be quick to leverage blockchain technology for their own gain. Sellfy Review 2022: How Good Is This Ecommerce Platform?

Sellfy

Are you searching for an ecomerce platform to help you build an online store and sell products?

In this Sellfy review, we'll talk about how this eCommerce platform can let you sell digital products while keeping full control of your marketing.

And the best part? Starting your business can be done in just five minutes.

Let us then talk about the Sellfy platform and all the benefits it can bring to your business.

What is Sellfy?

Sellfy is an eCommerce solution that allows digital content creators, including writers, illustrators, designers, musicians, and filmmakers, to sell their products online. Sellfy provides a customizable storefront where users can display their digital products and embed "Buy Now" buttons on their website or blog. Sellfy product pages enable users to showcase their products from different angles with multiple images and previews from Soundcloud, Vimeo, and YouTube. Files of up to 2GB can be uploaded to Sellfy, and the company offers unlimited bandwidth and secure file storage. Users can also embed their entire store or individual project widgets in their site, with the ability to preview how widgets will appear before they are displayed.

Features

Sellfy includes:

Online Store

Sellfy is a powerful e-commerce platform that helps you personalize your online storefront. You can add your logo, change colors, revise navigation, and edit the layout of your store. Sellfy also allows you to create a full shopping cart so customers can purchase multiple items. And Sellfy gives you the ability to set your language or let customers see a translated version of your store based on their location.

Sellfy gives you the option to host your store directly on its platform, add a custom domain to your store, and use it as an embedded storefront on your website. Sellfy also optimizes its store offerings for mobile devices, allowing for a seamless checkout experience.

Product hosting

Sellfy allows creators to host all their products and sell all of their digital products on one platform. Sellfy also does not place storage limits on your store but recommends that files be no larger than 5GB. Creators can sell both standard and subscription-based products in any file format that is supported by the online marketplace. Customers can purchase products instantly after making a purchase – there is no waiting period.

You can organize your store by creating your product categories, sorting by any characteristic you choose. Your title, description, and the image will be included on each product page. In this way, customers can immediately evaluate all of your products. You can offer different pricing options for all of your products, including "pay what you want," in which the price is entirely up to the customer. This option allows you to give customers control over the cost of individual items (without a minimum price) or to set pricing minimums—a good option if you're in a competitive market or when you have higher-end products. You can also offer set prices per product as well as free products to help build your store's popularity.

Sellfy is ideal for selling digital content, such as ebooks. But it does not allow you to copyrighted material (that you don't have rights to distribute).

Embed options

Sellfy offers several ways to share your store, enabling you to promote your business on different platforms. Sellfy lets you integrate it with your existing website using "buy now" buttons, embed your entire storefront, or embed certain products so you can reach more people. Sellfy also enables you to connect with your Facebook page and YouTube channel, maximizing your visibility.

Payments and security

Sellfy is a simple online platform that allows customers to buy your products directly through your store. Sellfy has two payment processing options: PayPal and Stripe. You will receive instant payments with both of these processors, and your customer data is protected by Sellfy's secure (PCI-compliant) payment security measures. In addition to payment security, Sellfy provides anti-fraud tools to help protect your products including PDF stamping, unique download links, and limited download attempts.

Marketing and analytics tools

The Sellfy platform includes marketing and analytics tools to help you manage your online store. You can send email product updates and collect newsletter subscribers through the platform. With Sellfy, you can also offer discount codes and product upsells, as well as create and track Facebook and Twitter ads for your store. The software's analytics dashboard will help you track your best-performing products, generated revenue, traffic channels, top locations, and overall store performance.

Integrations

To expand functionality and make your e-commerce store run more efficiently, Sellfy offers several integrations. Google Analytics and Webhooks, as well as integrations with Patreon and Facebook Live Chat, are just a few of the options available. Sellfy allows you to connect to Zapier, which gives you access to hundreds of third-party apps, including tools like Mailchimp, Trello, Salesforce, and more.

Ahrefs vs SEMrush: Which SEO Tool Should You Use?
semrush vs ahrefs

SEMrush and Ahrefs are among the most popular tools in the SEO industry. Both companies have been in business for years and have thousands of customers per month.

If you're a professional SEO or trying to do digital marketing on your own, at some point you'll likely consider using a tool to help with your efforts. Ahrefs and SEMrush are two names that will likely appear on your shortlist.

In this guide, I'm going to help you learn more about these SEO tools and how to choose the one that's best for your purposes.

What is SEMrush?

semrush

SEMrush is a popular SEO tool with a wide range of features—it's the leading competitor research service for online marketers. SEMrush's SEO Keyword Magic tool offers over 20 billion Google-approved keywords, which are constantly updated and it's the largest keyword database.

The program was developed in 2007 as SeoQuake is a small Firefox extension

  • All SEMrush users receive daily ranking data, mobile volume information, and the option to buy additional keywords by default with no additional payment or add-ons needed
  • Most accurate position tracking tool: This tool provides all subscribers with basic tracking capabilities, making it suitable for SEO professionals. Plus, the Position Tracking tool provides local-level data to everyone who uses the tool.

  • Content Optimization and Creation Tools: SEMrush offers content optimization and creation tools that let you create SEO-friendly content. Some features include the SEO Writing Assistant, On-Page SEO Check, er/SEO Content Template, Content Audit, Post Tracking, Brand Monitoring.

Ahrefs

ahrefs

Ahrefs is a leading SEO platform that offers a set of tools to grow your search traffic, research your competitors, and monitor your niche. The company was founded in 2010, and it has become a popular choice among SEO tools. Ahrefs has a keyword index of over 10.3 billion keywords and offers accurate and extensive backlink data updated every 15-30 minutes and it is the world's most extensive backlink index database.

Features

  • Backlink alerts data and new keywords: Get an alert when your site is linked to or discussed in blogs, forums, comments, or when new keywords are added to a blog posting about you.
  • Intuitive interface: The intuitive design of the widget helps you see the overall health of your website and search engine ranking at a glance.
  • Site Explorer: The Site Explorer will give you an in-depth look at your site's search traffic.
  • Domain Comparison
  • Reports with charts and graphs
  • JavaScript rendering and a site audit can identify SEO issues.
  • A question explorer that provides well-crafted topic suggestions

Direct Comparisons: Ahrefs vs SEMrush

Now that you know a little more about each tool, let's take a look at how they compare. I'll analyze each tool to see how they differ in interfaces, keyword research resources, rank tracking, and competitor analysis.

User Interface

Ahrefs and SEMrush both offer comprehensive information and quick metrics regarding your website's SEO performance. However, Ahrefs takes a bit more of a hands-on approach to getting your account fully set up, whereas SEMrush's simpler dashboard can give you access to the data you need quickly.

In this section, we provide a brief overview of the elements found on each dashboard and highlight the ease with which you can complete tasks.

AHREFS

ahrefs interface

The Ahrefs dashboard is less cluttered than that of SEMrush, and its primary menu is at the very top of the page, with a search bar designed only for entering URLs.

Additional features of the Ahrefs platform include:

  • You can see analytics from the dashboard, including search engine rankings to domain ratings, referring domains, and backlink
  • Jumping from one tool to another is easy. You can use the Keyword Explorer to find a keyword to target and then directly track your ranking with one click.
  • The website offers a tooltip helper tool that allows you to hover your mouse over something that isn't clear and get an in-depth explanation.

SEMRUSH

semrush domain overview

When you log into the SEMrush Tool, you will find four main modules. These include information about your domains, organic keyword analysis, ad keyword, and site traffic.

You'll also find some other options like

  • A search bar allows you to enter a domain, keyword, or anything else you wish to explore.
  • A menu on the left side of the page provides quick links to relevant information, including marketing insights, projects, keyword analytics, and more.
  • The customer support resources located directly within the dashboard can be used to communicate with the support team or to learn about other resources such as webinars and blogs.
  • Detailed descriptions of every resource offered. This detail is beneficial for new marketers, who are just starting.

WHO WINS?

Both Ahrefs and SEMrush have user-friendly dashboards, but Ahrefs is less cluttered and easier to navigate. On the other hand, SEMrush offers dozens of extra tools, including access to customer support resources.

When deciding on which dashboard to use, consider what you value in the user interface, and test out both.

Rank Tracking

If you're looking to track your website's search engine ranking, rank tracking features can help. You can also use them to monitor your competitors.

Let's take a look at Ahrefs vs. SEMrush to see which tool does a better job.

Ahrefs

ahrefs rank tracking

The Ahrefs Rank Tracker is simpler to use. Just type in the domain name and keywords you want to analyze, and it spits out a report showing you the search engine results page (SERP) ranking for each keyword you enter.

Rank Tracker looks at the ranking performance of keywords and compares them with the top rankings for those keywords. Ahrefs also offers:

You'll see metrics that help you understand your visibility, traffic, average position, and keyword difficulty.

It gives you an idea of whether a keyword would be profitable to target or not.

SEMRUSH

semrush position tracking

SEMRush offers a tool called Position Tracking. This tool is a project tool—you must set it up as a new project. Below are a few of the most popular features of the SEMrush Position Tracking tool:

All subscribers are given regular data updates and mobile search rankings upon subscribing

The platform provides opportunities to track several SERP features, including Local tracking.

Intuitive reports allow you to track statistics for the pages on your website, as well as the keywords used in those pages.

Identify pages that may be competing with each other using the Cannibalization report.

WHO WINS?

Ahrefs is a more user-friendly option. It takes seconds to enter a domain name and keywords. From there, you can quickly decide whether to proceed with that keyword or figure out how to rank better for other keywords.

SEMrush allows you to check your mobile rankings and ranking updates daily, which is something Ahrefs does not offer. SEMrush also offers social media rankings, a tool you won't find within the Ahrefs platform. Both are good which one do you like let me know in the comment.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is closely related to rank tracking, but it's used for deciding which keywords you plan on using for future content rather than those you use now.

When it comes to SEO, keyword research is the most important thing to consider when comparing the two platforms.

AHREFS

The Ahrefs Keyword Explorer provides you with thousands of keyword ideas and filters search results based on the chosen search engine.

Ahrefs supports several features, including:

  • It can search multiple keywords in a single search and analyze them together. At SEMrush, you also have this feature in Keyword Overview.
  • Ahrefs has a variety of keywords for different search engines, including Google, YouTube, Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and other search engines.
  • When you click on a keyword, you can see its search volume and keyword difficulty, but also other keywords related to it, which you didn't use.

SEMRUSH

SEMrush's Keyword Magic Tool has over 20 billion keywords for Google. You can type in any keyword you want, and a list of suggested keywords will appear.

The Keyword Magic Tool also lets you to:

  • Show performance metrics by keyword
  • Search results are based on both broad and exact keyword matches.
  • Show data like search volume, trends, keyword difficulty, and CPC.
  • Show the first 100 Google search results for any keyword.
  • Identify SERP Features and Questions related to each keyword
  • SEMrush has released a new Keyword Gap Tool that uncovers potentially useful keyword opportunities for you, including both paid and organic keywords.

WHO WINS?

Both of these tools offer keyword research features and allow users to break down complicated tasks into something that can be understood by beginners and advanced users alike.

If you're interested in keyword suggestions, SEMrush appears to have more keyword suggestions than Ahrefs does. It also continues to add new features, like the Keyword Gap tool and SERP Questions recommendations.

Competitor Analysis

Both platforms offer competitor analysis tools, eliminating the need to come up with keywords off the top of your head. Each tool is useful for finding keywords that will be useful for your competition so you know they will be valuable to you.

AHREFS

Ahrefs' domain comparison tool lets you compare up to five websites (your website and four competitors) side-by-side.it also shows you how your site is ranked against others with metrics such as backlinks, domain ratings, and more.

Use the Competing Domains section to see a list of your most direct competitors, and explore how many keywords matches your competitors have.

To find more information about your competitor, you can look at the Site Explorer and Content Explorer tools and type in their URL instead of yours.

SEMRUSH

SEMrush provides a variety of insights into your competitors' marketing tactics. The platform enables you to research your competitors effectively. It also offers several resources for competitor analysis including:

Traffic Analytics helps you identify where your audience comes from, how they engage with your site, what devices visitors use to view your site, and how your audiences overlap with other websites.

SEMrush's Organic Research examines your website's major competitors and shows their organic search rankings, keywords they are ranking for, and even if they are ranking for any (SERP) features and more.

The Market Explorer search field allows you to type in a domain and lists websites or articles similar to what you entered. Market Explorer also allows users to perform in-depth data analytics on These companies and markets.

WHO WINS?

SEMrush wins here because it has more tools dedicated to competitor analysis than Ahrefs. However, Ahrefs offers a lot of functionality in this area, too. It takes a combination of both tools to gain an advantage over your competition.

Pricing

Ahrefs

  • Lite Monthly: $99/month
  • Standard Monthly: $179/month
  • Annually Lite: $990/year
  • Annually Standard: $1790/year

SEMRUSH

  • Pro Plan: $119.95/month
  • Guru Plan:$229.95/month
  • Business Plan: $449.95/month

Which SEO tool should you choose for digital marketing?

When it comes to keyword data research, you will become confused about which one to choose.

Consider choosing Ahrefs if you

  • Like friendly and clean interface
  • Searching for simple keyword suggestions

  • Want to get more keywords for different search engines like Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Baidu, and more

Consider SEMrush if you:

  • Want more marketing and SEO features
  • Need competitor analysis tool
  • Need to keep your backlinks profile clean
  • Looking for more keyword suggestions for Google

Both tools are great. Choose the one which meets your requirements and if you have any experience using either Ahrefs or SEMrush let me know in the comment section which works well for you.

Canva Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • A user-friendly interface
  • Canva is a great tool for people who want to create professional graphics but don’t have graphic design skills.
  • Hundreds of templates, so you'll never have to start from scratch.
  • Wide variety of templates to fit multiple uses
  • Branding kits to keep your team consistent with the brand colors and fonts
  • Creating visual content on the go
  • You can find royalty free images, audio, and video without having to subscribe to another service.

Cons:

  • Some professional templates are available for Pro user only
  • Advanced photo editing features like blurring or erasing a specific area are missing.
  • Some elements that fall outside of a design are tricky to retrieve.
  • Features (like Canva presentations) could use some improvement.
  • If you are a regular user of Adobe products, you might find Canva's features limited.
  • Prefers to work with vectors. Especially logos.
  • Expensive enterprise pricing

Conclusion

In general, Canva is an excellent tool for those who need simple images for projects. If you are a graphic designer with experience, you will find Canva’s platform lacking in customization and advanced features – particularly vectors. But if you have little design experience, you will find Canva easier to use than advanced graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator for most projects.
