There are 102 new cases of Covid-19 in the Delta community outbreak – the largest number in single day since the pandemic began.

Case numbers were not the only measure to assess the severity of the outbreak. It was anticipated that in future 95 per cent of Covid cases could be treated at home. Robertson said the vaccine was the key to keeping people safe.

To take the pressure off hospital staff, Aucklanders could get vaccinated, and continue to abide by Covid restrictions.

A big part of that tool was about public facing, and that would justify employers from a health and safety perspective deciding they wanted all their staff vaccinated.
