【澳纽网编译】随着对滥用工作签证的调查继续进行,近200名雇主的雇用移民的执照被吊销或暂停。

新西兰移民局正在调查另外167名雇主,他们持有经认可的雇主工作签证计划的执照。

自去年6月首次对剥削来自印度、中国和孟加拉国的移民工人提出担忧以来,该机构已经调查了数十名雇主。

移民报告说,他们支付了数千纽币的工作签证,但几乎没有工作。

在某些情况下,工人被发现生活在狭窄和不卫生的条件下

从那时起,136名雇主的认证被吊销,另有51名雇主被暂停。

移民局表示,对经认可的雇主的另外167项调查仍在进行中。

2023年11月,奥克兰一家酒吧和餐馆老板因移民剥削指控被捕

根据2009年《移民法》第351条,该企业主被指控犯有一项剥削罪,最高可判处七年监禁和/或10万纽币的罚款。

一名移民顾问也因2023年10月的调查被捕,罪名是提供虚假信息。

这些指控最多可判处七年监禁。

公共服务委员会对经认可的雇主工作签证计划的审查(最初应于2023年12月)现已推迟到2月下旬发布其调查结果。
