There are 21 new cases of Covid-19 linked to the community Delta outbreak, bringing the total number of cases to 841.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield gave the update at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
All of the new cases are in Auckland. One other case is being investigated as to whether it is a border or community case.
Bloomfield said all the numbers are “moving in the right direction”.
There are 39 people in hospitals across the Auckland region. Six of these are in intensive care or high dependency units. Four are on ventilators.
There are eight epidemiologically linked sub-clusters in the outbreak, the largest of which is the Assembly of God Church in Māngere (368 confirmed cases) and the Birkdale social cluster associated with Case A (76 cases).

He was satisfied the clinicians made good decisions based on the information they had at the time, and had infection prevention control advice throughout. There were a couple of points where there was a delay in the process, and the DHB was looking into that.
