First positive case of Omicron confirmed in Taranaki
Omicron is in Taranaki – with the first person testing positive in New Plymouth on Wednesday.
In an email sent to stakeholders, the Taranaki District Health Board (TDHB) confirmed the case was a person who was on the same flight as the Air NZ attendant, who is linked to the Nelson family cluster.
The TDHB said the case had been isolating since being identified as a close contact.
“Taranaki’s public health unit has started investigation work to determine if there are any locations of interest and says it was expected that we could get some positive results from the flight exposure into New Plymouth,” the email said.
