综合外媒报导，「奥尔斯克号」发生二次爆炸后沉没，另有两艘冒出浓烟的俄军船舰负伤逃离，一间存放弹药与燃料的仓库被摧毁。乌克兰国防部副部长马尔亚尔（Anna Malyar）指出，遭击毁的「奥尔斯克号」可载运20辆战车、45辆装甲运兵车以及400名伞兵。根据塔斯社（TASS）报导，这艘军舰的载重量可达到1500公吨。
乌克兰情报部队指出，乌克兰军队袭击佔领别尔江斯克港口的俄军，对4艘俄军登陆舰发动攻击，其中「奥尔斯克号」全毁、「萨托夫号」（Saratov）舰体受损严重，俄军被迫直接炸沉，另两艘登陆舰「库尼科夫号」（Kunikov）和「新切尔卡斯克号」（Novocherkassk）受到程度不等的损伤，被迫离开港口，舰上约有200至300人。
俄方尚未证实或否认相关消息，但已有许多相关画面在网上疯传。据了解，别尔江斯克港的位置接近被俄军包围的战略港口城市马立波（Mariupol），位于马立波以西约70多公里，被俄军在2月底佔领后用于供应该处部队的补给。马立波被俄军包围多日拒绝投降，俄军迟迟无法取得进展。
