Nature vs. Man

by Jia Bing

Lotus flowers leap out of water, deeply enamored with the pond,
A waltz swirls on the lotus stems, dancing around in pair only lyrebirds.

The motto of love in water, the duet of mandarin ducks,
Peacocks flaunder plumes, a quest for love, a warning to rivals.

Red-and-blue Lories play symphony at dusk,
In deep valleys, echoing nature’s divine sound.

Every inch of the junggle is filled with life and hope –
Among flowering bushes, bees humming, butterflies fluttering,
In shallow streams and deep pools, frogs croaking and fish leaping.

Lions and tigers, wild and proud, becoming weary in swamps,
The docile hedgehogs, though seemingly weak, know their tricks to ward off threats.

Migratory birds fly thousands of miles, leaving only afterimages in human’s eyes,
Eagles soar in the sky, untouched by migration’s desire.

Human intelligence, though profound, remains
powerless against nature’s fleeting changes,
With intuition and wisdom, can we find
our path, harmonizing with nature’s whims?

Wind

by Jia Bing

The face of the wind is particularly fickle,
In the season of symphony,
Notes are drawn in the air, cymbals wrapped
in thunderstorms passing through clouds and fog,
Strings stroll by the moonlit seaside.

I missed her spring-like appearance,

Blowing on the face,
Her gentle and sexy colorfulness,
Romantic, passionate and shy,
Her charm inspires admiration and pursuit.

I liked her Venus’s summer,
She brings soft breeze with enchantment,
In sleeveless dress, she flits by the stream,
Dancing in the cradle with a fan in hand,
Chatting with snores in dreams.

In autumn, she’s lost her lover,
In certain sadness,
She returns all the dowries,
Drives away colorful rainbows, and
Keeping only her innocence sealed with soil and dust.

She turns to be cold and fierce in winter,
Grace lost,
She roars with anger,
Bashing everyone with no mercy,
Leaving a sharp prick pain on the face.

How willful she is,
How lithesome she drifts,
With caprice, she swings
between joy and anger following the cycle of seasons,
With no trace to be found, she disappears…

Tears and Red Wine

by Jia Bing

Clear eyes slowly blur,

Out of focus sure,

Tenderness vanishes,

Whispers of red wine lure.

The red wine turns murky,

In glass it eerie,

Taste unfondly,

Falling into the glass, her tears.

Let’s have a drink…

The wind howls tonight…

The carefully nurtured affair of love falters

Let’s have another drink…

The rain pours heavily tonight…

The meticulously cultivated flame of love quenches.

In clear eyes, true feelings are told,

Gentle touches of caring hearts then follow.

Let unspoken admirations emerge silently,

An echo of thunders that strikes the window

A delicate spirit burns in the wine glass,

Infusing courage into a timid heart.

Let the stumbling tongue assert itself,

Boldly speaking under the influence, or not.

Red wine and gazes, a perfect match of emotions,

They speak contradictory languages –

Tears in the wine are melancholic memories,

Red wine with tears, a hazy confession of blurry minds.
