Homicide investigations have been launched after two men died from gunshot wounds in Palmerston North and Rangitikei District.

Emergency services were called to a home on Coromandel Court shortly before 7.30pm on Saturday to reports of a shooting, Detective Sergeant Dave Wilson said.

Shortly before 3.30am, police were called to Makohine Lane, Ohingaiti, around 70km away from the first incident, to reports of a second man being shot.
