A Covid positive patient who self-discharged from Middlemore Hospital is being managed by the Auckland Regional Public Health Service and has been isolating at home, McElnay said. They are being moved into a quarantine facility today.

Robertson was asked what the impact was on the trans-Tasman bubble of reports that Australia was poised to reopen its international borders from November. “Not particularly at this stage,” he said. The Government would continue with the planned review of the bubble.
Case numbers were only one factor that Cabinet would consider when it considered alert levels on Monday, Robertson said.

What was really important was the connection of those cases to one another. The advice was that there was not widespread community transmission.

Cabinet would also look in much more detail about where mystery cases might be emerging from. Testing rates would also be important. It provided an indication that all the cases were being found. Robertson said he wanted to see testing numbers continue at the rates of recent days over the weekend.
Robertson said he had no information about any particular concerns about construction sites. Such sites needed to operate safely, that included the flow of people coming in and out, and to ensure visible distancing requirements. Very clear guidance was in place and it was up to each site to do that. Any concerns could be followed up by Worksafe.
Robertson said he would like to see as many people as possible owning their own home, and that that was affordable as possible.

Asked about the Covid-positive Middlemore patient that self-discharged yesterday, McElnay said she had been advised they went straight home and then got the test result.
